How Buildcalchub collects, uses, and protects your information. Short version: we don't collect personally identifiable information, and we don't sell data.

Summary

Buildcalchub is a free educational and reference site with construction calculators. We collect standard anonymous web analytics (page views, time on site, approximate location), display Google AdSense advertising (after account approval), and use cookies and similar technologies for both. We do not collect personally identifiable information (PII) unless you voluntarily contact us via email.

Buildcalchub and third parties (including Google) may place or read cookies, use web beacons / pixels, and process IP addresses or other identifiers on your device because analytics and ads are served on this site. These technologies help serve ads, limit how often you see an ad, measure ad performance, and understand site usage.

  • Google Analytics (GA4) — aggregated analytics (loaded only if you Accept non-essential cookies)
  • Google AdSense — ad serving, frequency capping, and measurement (loaded only if you Accept, and only after AdSense approval with real ad units configured)
  • First-party consent preference — stores your Accept / Essential-only choice in local storage
  • Essential session cookies — basic site functionality when needed

You can change your choice by clearing site data for buildcalchub.net (the consent banner will appear again) or by adjusting browser cookie settings. Calculators still work if you choose Essential only; analytics and personalized ads will not load.

Consent (EEA / UK and all visitors)

When you first visit, we show a consent banner. Accept allows analytics and advertising cookies from us and Google. Essential only declines non-essential cookies; we will not load Google Analytics or AdSense scripts in that case. Visitors in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom are covered by Google's EU User Consent Policy expectations for personalized ads.

Google AdSense Personalization

When ads are enabled and you have Accepted cookies, Google may show ads based on your visit history across websites. You can also opt out of personalized ads by visiting Google Ads Settings. You may still see ads, but they will not be personalized.

Children's Privacy

Buildcalchub is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures: HTTPS encryption, Cloudflare DDoS protection, and secured email handling. However, no system is 100% secure. If you suspect a data breach, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy. The ‘Last updated’ date above reflects the most recent change. Significant changes will be noted in a banner at the top of the site for 30 days.
